This is a fascinating essay by Werner Herzog. It starts unpromisingly, with a fake quotation from Pascal which Herzog claims could not have been improved by Pascal himself. He goes on to compare his work with that of Dante, Bosch, and Goya. But it gets much, much better, bringing
Survivor and Peruvian Indians into Wittgenstein-and-(especially)-Heidegger territory.
