Philosophy--I'm in it for the money

This slogan ("Philosophy--I'm in it for the money") used to be seen on t-shirts worn around the philosophy department at the University of Virginia. I thought of it when I saw the price of this book on amazon.com. At the time I'm writing this, it is listed here at $18,083,719.67 for a hardback copy, plus $3.99 shipping and handling. The reason is most likely explained here.

It looks like a good book, although probably too expensive (even at the normal paperback price) to make students buy it.

  1. I'd pay good money--not millions--for one of those t-shirts.

  2. It's the shipping charges I object to.

  3. I should ask about the t-shirts. I doubt any originals have survived, but how hard could it be to recreate the design?

  5. And I am hesitating to ask my wife if I can buy a copy of this one! Oh well, maybe my philosophy slogan should be something like this?

By the way, I saw the "...in it for the money"-tee some weeks ago -- or, so I think. I am unable to find back to it, but I believe also that was over at CaféPress.

  6. The post I removed was a working link (that stopped working) to an "..in it for the money" one that I designed at CaféPress. Perhaps if I actually bought one they would keep that design on file. Or for only around $1000.00 you could always buy this.

  7. Gah! That link doesn't work. It's meant to go here.
